Hopefully we've made buying a Leanpub book an easy process, but sometimes people do ask us how to do it in advance, so we thought we'd make an article about it!
(If you're looking for instructions for making a multiple-copy purchase, where you want to buy more than one copy of the book, and then distribute copies to multiple individuals via email, please go here.)
To begin, go to the web page for the book you want to buy on Leanpub. It will look something like this:
First, if you see multiple "Packages" for sale, select the package you want:
Next, select your price by using our pricing "sliders", or type the amount you want to pay into the "You Pay" box:
Yes, on Leanpub you really do get to choose what to pay! If you're interested in learning more about Leanpub's "variable pricing" model, please go here.
Next, click the blue "Add Ebook to Cart" button:
This will take you to your shopping cart:
Review your purchase details and then click one of the checkout buttons:
This will take you to the checkout page (what you see exactly will depend on which checkout option you choose, and your location:
What you do next will depend on your selected payment option.
Please note that if you have selected the PayPal option, you do not need a PayPal account to complete your purchase!
For example, you may see something like this:
Select the option to pay with a credit or other card:
You should then see an option to check out your purchase as a "guest":
Once you have completed your payment, we will immediately send you an email with a receipt and download links to the book.
Also, in your browser, you will go to a "Thank You" page with a lot of useful features and information:
On this page, you can do the following:
Click "Create Custom Receipt" to create a new receipt including company information if you need one
Click Create a Book or Course to create your own book and become a Leanpub author yourself!
Configure your "Email Settings" so you can be notified if the author publishes a new version of the book you just purchased. You can also share your email address with the author, so they can add you to their mailing lists
Modify your account settings (for example, setting your password)
And at the bottom of the page, you will also find the download links for your purchase, and a link to your Leanpub library, where you can access the book any time:
If you click the blue "View My Library", you will go to your Leanpub library:
If you select the book, you will see all its details and special Leanpub features, including the download links again:
Finally, to get back to your Leanpub library any time, just click in the menu at the top right of any Leanpub page, and select "Library" and then "Books":
OK, that's it!
