Yes, you can sell ebooks on Leanpub for free!

There are actually three ways to do this, which we'll explain below. (You can also see the three options in the menu at the top right.)

To make your book available for free, go to your book's Pricing page.

Here is an article on how you can find the Pricing page for your book:

On the Pricing page for your book, find the box to "Allow Free Purchases"

Next, tick the "Allow Free Purchases" box:

Next, scroll to the bottom of the Pricing page and click the "Update Pricing" button:

To confirm the change, click on your book's cover image at the top left of the Pricing page:

You will now see that the book has a free minimum price:

Please note that even if you make your book available for free, people can still choose to pay you money for the book.

Yes, on Leanpub people do often choose to pay money for books they can get for free!

This is possible because of what we call our "Variable Pricing" model.

Leanpub has a unique revenue-sharing program that lets authors earn money from books that they choose to make free to readers with a paid Reader Membership.

On the Pricing page for your book, and scroll down until you find the boxes that say "Allow Free Purchases" and "Free purchases of this book require a Reader, Standard or Pro membership":

Next, tick both boxes:

Next, scroll to the bottom of the Pricing page and click the "Update Pricing" button:

To confirm the change, click on your book's cover image at the top left of the Pricing page:

You will now see that the book is available for free with a membership:

Please note that as we mentioned earlier in this article, people will still be able to pay for your book directly if they want to!

If you have a book that people can't "buy" for free, but that you want to give to someone for free (for example a potential influencer, a book reviewer, or a client if you run a business), you can make a free coupon link for your book.
