Leanpub has an amazing Partner Program that lets people buy your book from third-party platforms.

Currently we have one partner, Learnerbly, that lets people buy your book using their corporate training budgets etc.

Partner Program purchases don't work like normal purchases on our own platform.

In this article, we're going to explain what these purchases will look like on your book's Individual Purchases page.

They way Partner Program purchases work currently is that the partner's customers click a coupon link to get your book for free. The partner pays us later in a batch for the month's purchases. At that point, we create a new "purchase" of your book, including the partner platform's name, and the dollar amount paid for the book.

So, for each Partner Program purchase of your book, two purchases are entered on your book's Individual Purchases page: first, the "free" one, and later on, the "paid" one.

Here's what this will look like:

We create a coupon for free purchases of your book that we share with our partner. You will see this coupon on the Coupons page for your book, like this:

Note this coupon will have a unique, unguessable code, like 9MCDkei6f8n0.

When one of our partner's customers buys your book, this will be entered on your book's Individual Purchases page as a free coupon purchase, like this:

Later, when we are actually paid for the purchase, we will add a new entry that includes the dollar amount, and the name of the partner, like this:

After the paid Partner Program purchase is entered, i.e. the second entry for the purchase (the one with partner's name), then the purchase will begin the 60-day royalties hold period (Partner Program purchases can be refunded for a period of time, too).
