Sometimes when we attempt to pay royalties to an author via PayPal, the payment is returned to us as a failed payment.
When this happens, the money will be returned to us, and it will be rolled-forward and included in our next attempt to pay you, so you do not need to worry about the money being lost.
However, when this happens, you will want to do two things:
1) Resolve the issue with PayPal
2) After you have resolved the issue with PayPal, contact us via email at hello@leanpub.com to let us know that you have resolved the issue. (When the payment attempt to you failed, we may have blocked future payments to you, until you let us know the issue is resolved).
That's all you really need to know, but in the rest of this article we'll go into more detail about what to do if our payment to you via PayPal fails, and is returned to us.

Resolving the Issue with PayPal
To resolve the issue, we recommend you sign in to your PayPal account, and look for a message or notification regarding the cause of failed payment.
You may also need to contact their customer support to resolve the issue. In our experience, their customer support is very good.
Typically, all that you need to do in this case is complete an extra verification step with PayPal.
Notifying Leanpub That the Issue Has Been Resolved, and Removing the Leanpub Account Flag Blocking Future Payments
When a royalty payment attempt fails, we may put a flag on your Leanpub account to prevent future payments to you, until you resolve the issue.
When you have resolved the issue with PayPal, please notify the team at hello@leanpub.com.
We will then remove the flag on your account if we placed one on it, and you will automatically receive your next payment at the normal royalty payment time, at the beginning of the next month.
Switching to Receive Royalty Payments via Wise
You can switch to receive payments via Wise on your Payment Settings page:
If you do switch to receive payment via Wise instead, please contact the team at hello@leanpub.com and ask them to remove the flag we may have placed on your account to block future payments.
We will then remove the flag, and you will automatically receive your next payment at the normal royalty payment time, at the beginning of the next month
