We are sorry to hear that you are seeing unexpected charges from Leanpub.

Leanpub is a Canadian merchant who sells ebooks and online courses on the internet. Most of what we sell is computer programming books, so if you have a family member or employee who likes buying computer programming books using your credit card or PayPal info, please help us out by asking them if they made any purchases using your info recently.

Anyway, if this is not the case, and if there was an unauthorized charge, we are happy to help resolve this!

First and foremost, if there was an unauthorized charge on your credit card or Visa debit card, you should contact your financial institution and let them know. Chances are they will want to cancel your card and issue you a new card with a different card number: if your credit card or Visa debit card is being used to make unauthorized purchases on the internet, this should be dealt with swiftly.

Besides contacting your financial institution, we would greatly appreciate it if you contact Leanpub as well. We want to give you the refund, so that you do not have to go through the hassle of doing a chargeback. (Many credit card companies will do chargebacks for you, so that you get your money back that way. However, it's easier for you and better for us if you let us give you a refund, so we would greatly appreciate being given the opportunity to do so.)

To help us investigate any transaction further and issue you a refund, please contact hello@leanpub.com and provide us with some more information, in order for us to track down the transactions and refund them.

If you provide us with the following information it will help us get this resolved as quickly as possible:

1. Was this a PayPal transaction, a credit card transaction or a Visa debit card transaction?

2. If it was a PayPal transaction, what was the PayPal email address used?

3. If it was a PayPal transaction, please click the links in PayPal to go to the transaction details, and either send us screenshots of the PayPal transactions or copy and paste the Transaction IDs into the email. This will help us find the transactions.

4. If it was a credit card transaction or Visa debit card transaction, what were the last 4 digits of the credit card or Visa debit card used? Please do NOT give us your entire credit card or Visa debit card number; we do not want to have that information. (We use PayPal for our credit card processing, and with PayPal, we can search by the last 4 digits of the credit card, even though we do not see the full credit card number. Also, Leanpub does not store credit card information: it must be provided with every transaction.)

Finally, to repeat, please note that regardless of whether we manage to find and refund the transactions, if your credit card, Visa debit card or PayPal account has been compromised, you should contact your financial institution.
