Sometimes we may need to "restore" a previously published version of a product (like a book or a course) so it is available in people's libraries.
This may be required if an author misunderstands something and, for example, uploads a one-page PDF in place of their actual book, to explain why they retired their book.
(When you retire a book you should leave the book as it is; you are just changing the book's "state" on Leanpub, so it can no longer be purchased.)
Essentially, in cases like this, we need to restore a previous version of the product and publish it ourselves, so people who bought it in the past can still download it from their Leanpub libraries.
We do this ourselves as a courtesy to both our customers and to our authors: whether it's a mistake or it's purposefully bad behaviour on the author's part, we will unilaterally restore a previous version to save everyone from confusion and extra work.
