Creating and Distributing Batch Coupons

You can easily create individual discount coupon links for Leanpub ebooks, ebook bundles, and online courses.

Here's an article from our Help Center with an Explainer video that shows you how to create individual coupon links:

Each coupon link has a unique URL, and you can set a maximum number of uses.

Sometimes authors want to create many unique coupon links all at once. So, we built a new feature, which lets you create batches of unique codes with the click of a button.

In this article, we'll show you how you can create your own batch of unique coupon links.

(This article specifically shows you how to do this for a Leanpub book, but the process is basically the same for bundles and courses.)

Finding the Coupons Page

To create a new batch of coupon links for your book, go to the "Coupons" page for your book here:

https://leanpub.com/YOUR_BOOK/coupons

...making sure to replace YOUR_BOOK with your book's unique web address.

You can also find the "Coupons" page on your book's "Overview" page:

Here's what the Coupons page looks like:

Creating a Batch of Coupon Links

To create a new batch of coupons, click the "New Batch of Coupons" button:

You will now see this form:

You can now choose the number of coupons you want to create in the batch, set the coupon price, set start and send dates, set a maximum number of uses for each individual coupon, and add a note for yourself:

When you're ready, scroll down and click the "Create Batch of Coupons" button:

At the top of the page, you'll see a message saying that your coupons are being created:

Depending on how many coupon codes you've asked us to generate, after a short time you'll receive an email indicating that the codes have been created, and attached to the email in a CSV file.

The contents of the email will look something like this:

The contents of the CSV will look like this:

You can expand the first column to see the unique coupon code in each row:

If you go back to the Coupons page for your book, you'll see the individual coupons there as well:

(We may actually change this decision, since creating a paginated list of potentially thousands of coupon links isn't really very useful.)

Distributing Coupon Links

Now that you have your coupon links, you can distribute them however you like!

Most Leanpub authors who are using the batch coupons feature will probably have a system they use to add links automatically in an email to groups of people, such as email newsletter subscribers.

Another use will be sharing the CSV file with conference organizers, who are going to be distributing the coupon codes to their attendees.

Here's an article on that use case:
