Adding Custom Author Information to a Book

On the landing page for a Leanpub book, the author's name and profile image are shown under the book cover image, like this:

In this example, we have set up an account called "Demo Publishing House", and we published a demo book under that account.

So, the author name being displayed under the book is the name of the account, "Demo Publishing House".

If you have set up a Leanpub account for a publishing house, a consultancy, a non-profit or charity, or another type of organization, and you want to publish books by different authors under your account, you may want to display unique author information on a per-book basis.

We have a feature that lets you do this!

Adding Custom Author Info To A Book

To find the custom author info setting for your book, go to the "Custom Author Info" page for your book here:

https://leanpub.com/YOUR_BOOK/settings/custom_author_info

...making sure to replace YOUR_BOOK with your book's unique web address.

You can also find the Custom Author Info page on your book's "Overview" page:

The Custom Author Info page will look like this:

You can enter custom author name and biographical information on this page:

When you're done entering the custom author information, click the "Update Author" button at the bottom of the page:

To see the change on your book's landing page, click on the book cover image at the top left:

You'll see that the displayed author name has changed:

Scroll down, and you'll see that the About the Author section of the book landing page has been updated with your custom author information:

Next, click on the author name link:

This takes you to the profile page for the account, that shows the actual account profile information, not the custom author information for the individual book:

But if you scroll down, you'll see the custom author information is displayed under the book:

Using this feature, you can publish books under your brand, in an ordinary Leanpub author account, and display the names of different authors.

You can also use this feature if you are a non-fiction author who also published fiction; Leanpub authors who do both like to display different biographical information in the About the Author section for their non-fiction vs. their fiction books.

And no, sorry, you currently can't upload custom profile images using the Custom Author Info feature, sorry about that!

Previewing And Publishing With Custom Author Info

Of course, if you're using our Upload writing mode, none of these changes will affect your book itself!

But if you are using one of our plain text writing modes (Browser, GitHub, or Dropbox), when you preview and publish the book, the book will display the custom author name, as both the author and the copyright owner:
