Below are some guidelines for things you can do on Leanpub to improve discoverability of your book online.

(If you're looking for general advice about how to improve your book's discoverability, please check out our list of resources here.)

Choose a distinctive title

You want to choose a title that will stand out in online searches. If your title is too generic, it won't stand out.

You set the title for your book when you create it for the first time on Leanpub. After that, you can change the title by going to your book's Book Tools menu, selecting Book Info and then clicking on Book Details .

Choose a really distinctive subtitle

Every book should have a subtitle: it helps people searching for a book on your topic find it more easily.

Your subtitle should describe your books as specifically as possible. Longer subtitles are actually better for discoverability, and for helping readers choose to buy your book.

You can set the subtitle for your book when you create it for the first time on Leanpub. After that, you can change the title by going to your book's Book Tools menu, selecting Book Info and then clicking on Book Details .

Write a "teaser" for your book

This will show up to the left of your book's cover on Leanpub. It lets you convey even more helpful information to your potential readers.

To add a teaser to your book, go to to your book's Book Tools menu, select Book Web Page  and then click on About the Book.

Write two or three paragraphs for the "About the Book" section on your book's Leanpub page

To add a full description of your book to your book's Leanpub page, go to to your book's Book Tools menu, select Book Web Page  and then click on About the Book.

This description should typically be two to three paragraphs long.

Add metadata key words and phrases to your book

To add specific metadata keywords to your book's Leanpub page, go to to your book's Book Tools menu, select Book Web Page  and then click on About the Book.

Doing this helps search engines point potential readers to your book.

Make a YouTube video about your book and add it to your book's Leanpub web page
