On Leanpub, you can upload "Extra" digital files to include with sales of your book.

For example, you can upload an audiobook, and set up a "Package" called "The Book Plus the Audiobook", and sell this package for a higher price than the price you set for a purchase of the book without the the audiobook.

Sometimes authors don't want to sell multiple packages, but they do want to add some additional digital content for sale with their book.

We don't recommend doing this, but we recognize it makes sense for some book projects.

(If you're adding an Extra, we recommend you create a new package for a higher price, and then sell two "packages": one that is just the book, and the other that is the book plus the Extra, sold for a higher price.)

Also, sometimes authors want to add additional digital content so that everyone who has already bought their book can get access to the additional digital content.

Here's a quick summary of what you need to do: First, you upload the Extra on your book's "Extras" page. Second, you go to your book's "Packages" page, select the package called "The Book", and then add the Extra to the "The Book" package.

We will set out this process in detail below.

To add an "Extra" digital file to your book, for your book, go to the "Extra" page for your book here:

...making sure to replace YOUR_BOOK with your book's unique web address.

You can also find the "...." page on your book's "Overview" page:

The "Extras" page will look something like this:

To add an Extra digital file, click on the "New Extra" button:

The "New Extra" page will look something like this:

Next, give the Extra a name and a description (you can change this information later if you want to):

Next, drag your Extra file onto the "Files" box, or click on the "Files" box to select the file from your device.

When you add the Extra digital file to the "Files" box, you will see something like this:

Next, click "the "Create Extra" button:

You will then see something like this:

Note that you will see a "Virus scan in progress" message:

After a moment, if you reload the page, you will see the status of the virus scan has been updated:

Now that you've uploaded a digital "Extra", you can add the Extra to your default book "package"; this is the package that is called "The Book" by default.

Adding an Extra to your "The Book" package means does two things:

1. Anyone who buys your book in the future will be able to download the Extra from the Leanpub library.

2. Anyone who bought your book in the past will also be able to download the Extra from their Leanpub library.

To edit the "The Book" package for your book, go to the "Packages" page for your book here:

...making sure to replace YOUR_BOOK with your book's unique web address.

You can also find the "Packages" page on your book's "Overview" page:

Note that unless you have already created an additional package or renamed the default package yourself, you will see that there is one package by default, and it is named "The Book":

To add an Extra to the "The Book" package, click "Edit":

The "Edit Package" page will look something like this:

Since you are adding an Extra to this package, which will be purchased along with your book, you will want to update the description:

Next, scroll down the page until you see the list of available "Extras" you have uploaded:

Tick the box to select the Extra:

Next, click "Update Book Package":

You will then see a message like this that confirms the change:

(Note that the message will mention "Pricing" even if the actual pricing hasn't been changed; we need to update this message to just say "Update successful", or something like that!)

You do not need to do anything else! This will add the Extra to the book in the Leanpub library for everyone who purchased your book in the past, and it will be added to the Leanpub library for everyone who buys it in the future.

Specifically, when they select your book in their Leanpub library, they will see a "Download Extras" link:

No information about the Extra you add to the "The Book" package will automatically be displayed on your book's landing page. You should make sure to mention it prominently in your "About the Book" section.
