We recently got feedback from a Leanpub learner who was unhappy they reached the limit of their "attempts" on a course. Here's an edited version of our reply, that we thought we'd share on the Help Center so other people with the same questions can get an answer instantly!
Leanpub is a self-publishing platform, and our authors create their own content, and set their own course parameters, such as the number of attempts (including unlimited attempts) if they want to.
We created the "attempts" feature to accommodate university professors and corporate training course creators who have institutional reasons for setting the number of attempts.
Our courses have a lot of moving parts and default settings, and it may be that the author of the course you purchased on Leanpub did not intend to set up the course precisely this way!
Typically Leanpub course authors also have books on Leanpub, and you can contact them with your feedback, and ask them to make changes:
