I'm making a two column table with a short first column and a long second column, and your tables have terrible line spacing when there are multiple lines of word wrapping. Help!

For what you're doing here, you'd be much, much better off with a definition list, not a table.

My assumption is that improving our table formatting won't happen for at least a couple of months, but even once we get to it, your use case here is still better served by a definition list. So, I'd recommend just making the change now...
