A malformed link with no actual content in the link itself will break book generation when placed in an endnote

If you are using endnotes in your book, you may discover that the book generation process fails, if you have an endnote with a link with no actual content in the link itself.

Please note that this issue will also affect you if you have used normal footnotes (^ not ^^), but you have selected this Theme setting:

Testing a note with a link[^^1] with < and >.

[^^1]: <https://leanpub.com>

This works:

# Testing Endnotes

Testing a note with a link[^^1]

[^^1]: [https://leanpub.com](https://leanpub.com)

This works:

# Testing Endnotes

Testing a note with a link[^^1]

[^^1]: [Leanpub](https://leanpub.com)

This breaks:

# Testing Endnotes

Testing a note with a link[^^1]

[^^1]: [](https://leanpub.com)

This breaks:

# Testing Endnotes

Testing a note with a link[^^1].

[^^1]: Test [](https://leanpub.com) bogus link in the endnote.
