Advice and answers from the Leanpub Team

As you may know, there are two writing modes for a Leanpub book:

  1. Leanpub Flavoured Markdown (the default, and the way that is documented at https://leanpub.com/help/manual)
  2. Markua (specified at https://leanpub.com/markua/read)

In Markua, we support endnotes, and this works on Leanpub today. Currently they only go at the end of each chapter, not at the end of the book.

Here's how they work: https://leanpub.com/markua/read#leanpub-auto-endnotes

Short version:

This has an endnote[^^thenote].

[^^thenote]: This is the endnote content.

To put your book in Markua mode, go to https://leanpub.com/markuainbrowserdebugging/edit_manuscript_format
